Wood Group GTS will install a pair or GE A-14 steam turbines, alongside with related generating equipment, at the Mojave concentrated solar thermal plant being built by Abengoa in California after securing a $2 million contract.
The 250 MW Mojave plant comprises two identical units 125 MW each, that's why a couple of turbines will be installed. Wood Group will be reponsible for equipment installation, including precision alignment of the 'center-line' between steam turbine and turbo-generator.
Completion of this crucial task will ensure smooth start-up of the power plant and minimize risk associated with the operation of high-speed rotating equipment.
In addition, the company will perform final connection of essential services for successful operation of each turbine, rechecking all critical dimensions during the start-up and commissioning phase of both units.
Mojave CSP plant uses the parabolic trough technology. It's expected to come online later this year. Located in Harper Dry Lake, the plant will generate roughly 600 GWh. More details about the plant are available as always in our csp world map here www.csp-world.com/map
